<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Scary!!</h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>The Havisham's trilogy is for children aged 9 and up, and the author Edward Crane will be giving a free talk & workshop for them on the Saturday of our festival- 14 Sept, at 4pm in the Abbey Hall.</b> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's a bit about the first book:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>''Robbie Havisham has a special gift, a gift which he must protect. When Robbie’s grandfather dies, the Havishams inherit a mysterious mansion. Soon Robbie and his sister Lucy, discover one of their grandfather’s experiments. A device designed to destroy nightmares. When Lucy tampers with the machine she sets a series of terrifying events in motion. It is then left to Robbie to use his gift, not only to confront his own darkest nightmares, but everyone else’s too.'' </i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i> </i>WHOA! Read it!</div>

<h2>
Bunny by Spark Productions</h2>
<br />
Local theatre favourites, Spark Productions bring Bunny to the Town Of Books Festival for 2013. After their hit performance of Roddy Doyle’s Brownbread in December 2012 and again in The Watergate Theatre this summer, Spark Productions return to the local stage following the debut of Bunny at Kilkenny's OUT For The Weekend Festival last month.<br />
<br />
<br />
<i>It’s one hot day in Luton England and it’s going to get intense. Bunny is a 6th form student who is just looking for some excitement and adventure. When Abe, sort of her boyfriend sort of her not, gets his ice cream kicked out of his hand, things get even hotter. Bunny sets out on an adventure with Abe and his friends looking for the punk kid who knocked his ‘f****** ice cream’.</i><br />
<br />
<br />
For the first time ever Graiguenamanagh’s finest theatre team will bring this one-woman show to Ireland. Jack Thorne is the writer of Skins, Shameless and This Is England. The show will be performed by Megan Stacey and directed by Adrian Kavanagh. Showing at the Duiske Inn, 13-15 Sept, doors 7.30, show 8pm sharp. €8, adult language & themes.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16955806944544896162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5319442616888529982.post-81073987857127640252013-08-28T13:27:00.001-07:002013-09-11T09:55:26.148-07:00Booksellers 2013; where & who<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here's what's on:<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFF2LXvzj4nphlIh8M4TkI6p_9zupxlrQ6UNZJS6l4lbc-AErJj73LzvFWi_8-01EHqSSWPMH1hlwvNo-QFCiqdcV2OTBF1P8SUWvmfywUwDgZ2NsbjFxgHpoQEmNOFboaaQmWzIQipLYV/s1600/sunrise+graig.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFF2LXvzj4nphlIh8M4TkI6p_9zupxlrQ6UNZJS6l4lbc-AErJj73LzvFWi_8-01EHqSSWPMH1hlwvNo-QFCiqdcV2OTBF1P8SUWvmfywUwDgZ2NsbjFxgHpoQEmNOFboaaQmWzIQipLYV/s320/sunrise+graig.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
Today is dawning another beautiful day in Graiguenamanagh, so have your morning cuppa & get on down to town! The day starts with a nature walk through Silaire Wood & along the river Barrow, lead by Roger Goodwillie, noted ecologist and county recorder for the Flora of Kilkenny. That starts at 10.30am, meeting at the boathouse, and is just €3 per person.</div>
<div>
Also the wonderful Graig Brass Band will be playing in the streets from 11am, and at 11.30, Children’s author and Backwards Speller extraordinaire <a href="http://irelandstownofbooks.blogspot.com/2012/09/backwards-spelling-in-graiguenamanagh.html" target="_blank">David Donohue</a> will do a reading & a workshop for 7-13 years olds. Head up to Graiguenamanagh Playgroup building for that one, €3. Also for kids is the Funky Kids workshop & disco at 2.30, & for adults the National Chamber Choir will be singing in medieval Duiske Abbey at 3pm.There's SO much on, today and tomorrow-<a href="http://irelandstownofbooks.blogspot.com/2012/09/2012-town-of-books-festival-program-is.html" target="_blank"> here's the full info & listing</a>s. For the <a href="http://irelandstownofbooks.blogspot.com/2012/08/book-trail-map.html" target="_blank">map, click here</a>; maps also available in the Festival Office.</div>
<div>
Have a great time, & be sure to cross the bridge over to the Tinnahinnch side of the river, because there are also booksellers there, in the old Boats Bistro- plus the Michealmas fest will be on over there :-) Told you there were 50 Shades Of Graig ;-)</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Willow weaving can make lots of things</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Did you know one of the 50 shades of Graig is <i>green</i>? Our community garden will be open on the <b>Saturday</b> <b>Sept 22 from 10-5pm</b>, with <b>willow weaving demonstrations</b> by Karen McKiernan at <b>2pm & 4.30pm</b>, and a <b>plant sale</b>, too! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There will also be an <b>exhibition of artwork</b> by local artist Kurt Phillips in the Tigin ('small cottage') next to the garden on both <b>Saturday and Sunday</b>. This show is influenced by superheros; I wonder will one of them be <a href="http://marvel.com/universe/Plantman" target="_blank">Plant-man</a>? :-)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The garden is going from strength to strength, and started in April by clearing rubbish, bringing in topsoil, making planters & raised beds, and planting specimen trees. The garden grows veg as well as ornamental plants, and gives away the produce to the community. You can help the community garden grow by purchasing a plant & donating it, if you wish :-)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Do come visit!!</b></div>

Town of Books Festival Treasures<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://dailyramblingsblog.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/bookshelf-sofa-design.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="277" src="http://dailyramblingsblog.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/bookshelf-sofa-design.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Are you making room for all the treasures you'll find at Graiguenamanagh's Town Of Books Festival? You may want to use the idea in this photo to create cool new shelf space! Perfect for relaxing & reading! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So...you'll be tempted by books on all 3 days of the festival, & on the <i>Sunday from 11-5</i> you'll be tempted by the <b>artisan food & craft</b> at our market! One of the big favorites is always<a href="http://www.edwardentertains.com/" target="_blank"> </a><b><a href="http://www.edwardentertains.com/" target="_blank">Edward Hayden's</a> </b>goodies, & my tip is to get there early, because his stall is often one of the first to sell out! Is it simply being one of TV3's celeb chefs that gives him such a following? I think it is his tasty food & winning personality- and of course Edward is a fantastic teacher, whether it is through his cookery books, on telly, or in person. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.edwardentertains.com/images/FoodtoLoveBookCover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.edwardentertains.com/images/FoodtoLoveBookCover.jpg" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And, as the cliche goes-- <i>that's not all</i>! The <b>Treasure Trail </b>is back on for the second year in a row, too.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Pick up your treasure map & questions at the festival office (there will be signs,) answer the questions found the trail, & drop your completed form back in to the office to be in with a chance to win some exciting prizes. 1st prize will be an <b>Irish Rugby jersey signed</b> by the whole squad! There will also be <b>book voucher</b> prizes, so get on the Treasure Trail! And, don't worry, we won't send you up Brandon Hill to look for <a href="http://jamesfreney.com/" target="_blank">Highwayman Freney</a>'s gold-- you can do that on your own time :-)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
If you'd like to know a bit more about the <a href="http://www.nationalchamberchoir.com/" target="_blank">National Chamber Choir's </a>concert, here's what The Kilkenny People has to say about it:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<br /><div style="text-align: center;">
<b>The National Chamber Choir of Ireland will perform their latest production, Equinox in Duiske Abbey on September 22.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The concert will coincide with the Autumnal Equinox offering the varying representations of darkness and light through a wide range of sacred texts. The performance will be conducted by David Hill, one of the leading UK choral directors, in his debut with the National Chamber Choir of Ireland.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hill’s entire programme is presented as a palindrome of dark and light, in equal quantities, beginning in the renaissance with Thomas Tallis’ luminescent O Nata Lux and then, interspersed throughout the performance, Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Missa Vidi Speciosam à 8. Hill then brings us on a sweeping journey to the twentieth century where the music turns to darkness with Tenebrae representations by Rubbra Tristis est anima mea from Tenebrae Motets and Poulenc’s Tenebrae factae sunt. The programme concludes with Rutter’s Hymn to the Creator of Light and J S Bach’s magnificent Jesu Meine Freude - a palindrome in itself.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
David Hill’s fine musicianship is recognised by his appointments as Chief Conductor of The BBC Singers, Musical Director of The Bach Choir, Music Director of the Southern Sinfonia, Music Director of the Leeds Philharmonic Society and Associate Guest Conductor of The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Tickets for the concert at Duiske Abbey are priced at €15 and €12. For more information or to book tickets call 059 972 5893 from 9.30-1pm, Mon-Fri. They should also be available at the door</b></div>
